The Inner Intelligence Era

Artificial intelligence is making capabilities that once took substantial human time, expertise, and effort cheap and abundant. Software may be one of the first places where that change is visible at scale.

The interesting question is not only what AI can do. It is what happens next, to the people who do the work, the organizations built around them, and the institutions built around those. These are open questions, not predictions:

  1. What becomes scarce when intelligence becomes abundant?
  2. What happens to expertise?
  3. How do people become senior if machines do the junior work?
  4. How should organizations change?
  5. What should people learn?
  6. How do we establish trust when machines produce both the artifacts and the evidence?
  7. What stays valuable about human judgment, responsibility, agency, taste, relationships, and lived experience?

Tracking the transition from software outward.

Quantitative and qualitative evidence on how AI capabilities turn into changes in behavior, work, organizations, institutions, and human experience.

What can AI systems actually do?
Behavior
How are people changing how they work?
Work
How are tasks, skills, roles, and organizations changing?
Economics
What is becoming abundant, and what is becoming scarce?
Institutions
How are education, government, defense, healthcare, regulation, and other systems responding?
Humans
What is happening to identity, ambition, creativity, relationships, responsibility, and purpose?

About

I’m Katrina Delos Reyes, an engineering leader working at the intersection of software, advanced development, and consequential technology.

Software engineering is my home base. I’m interested in what happens when increasingly capable AI changes not only how we build technology, but the skills, organizations, institutions, and assumptions built around human intelligence.

This site is where I investigate those questions in public.
